After a black knight killed Ike’s parents, Ike went off to become the leader of the grail mercenaries as well as become the bodyguard to a princess. Ike exells at power and range having a very good combo game.
Snake is a highly trained soldier from the special forces of Foxhound. Snakes main mission is to take outand destroy special weapons known as metal gears. Aconplished by using a variety of stealth and offense armorments. Such as grnades, missile launchers, and cardboard boxes. Snake’s moveset is very versatile with a wide range of tools and weapons, including plenty of explosives that are perfect for edgegarding.
Miitopia is a game made by Nintendo that originally came out on the nintendo3DS. Miitopia was later ported over to the switch with some added features. The Makeup Menu, which allows you to further customize you Miis. The Outings, which allows you to send you Miis out on outings increasing there relationship levels. The switch version also gives you a horse companion which give you added abilities based on your relationship. Miitopia is simple, but highly recommend due to its massive levels of charm.
Meta knight is Kirby’s sometimes enemy, sometimes friend. He may seem like a lone wolf, but deep down, he cares for his friends and teammates. He wields a legendary sword called Galaxia, a sword forged by a legendary sword smith and imbued with magical properties. He is also the captain of the halberd, an airship that he uses to defend the people of dreamland. Meta knight has to be precise with his movements if you want to get good with this character. His speed allows him to gain compos at lower damage percents. He has multiple jumps but has pretty slow air mobility compared to other characters with more than two jumps. His sword allows him to have a more extended range compared to that of Kirby.
Mr. Game and Watch may seem like a very odd character at first. His 2D body and choppy movements may seem odd to those that don’t know much about him or his series. The cool thing is that Mr. Game and Watch the oldest fighter in the game. He is so old that I doubt that many people nowadays even recognize where he is from. Mr. Game and Watch is based on Nintendo’s old Game and Watch LCD handhelds. Each was a single simple game that could also function as a clock. GAME and WATCH, get it? In smash, Mr. Game and Watch is fast and light and has an excellent aerial game.

Marth is the last surviving prince of a kingdom taken over by an evil force lead by the Dark Dragon Medeus. Marth is the welder of the legendary Falchion. The Falchion is a mystical blade that has the ability to take down the Dark Dragon. Marth is a pretty flexible character with a lot of combo potential. For Marth, spacing is important, even more than most fighters. The tip of Marths Falchion does more damage and knockback than the blade, but the base of the sword is good for combo starters.
Falco is the cool-headed ace pilot from team Starfox. The friend and rival to Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi is the best pilot to ever fly an arwing. He’s basically Han Solo if Han Solo was a bird. Falco is fast in the air and lightweight. He has good combo potential and, just like Fox, can use his blaster to deal good damage on the opponent.
Playful and mischievous, Pichu is the pre-evolution of Pikachu and was initially added to smash as a joke character back in melee. But that was the past, now Pichu is a very valuable and reliable character to play. Being so young, Pichu doesn’t know how to properly handle his electricity, and tends to shock himself causing recoil damage. Pichu is fast and light (the lightest in the game) so he is able to do quick attacks and get out of danger
Over the years, Mario has taken on many jobs, plumber, construction worker, referees, and most importantly, a Doctor. Now, weather he is fully licensed is a matter of debate. Dr. Mario is slower and doesn’t jump as high as Mario. Dr. Mario has stronger with some of his moves as well as higher knock back.
Zelda is the princess of Hyrule. Though usually the princess that link has to save, Zelda definitely has the power to defend herself. Zelda is a master of magic and has helped link on a number of occasion. Zelda is a good character for zoning but is overall a glass cannon. She’s lightweight and floaty, and has good Knock Out potential.
Sheik is the last of the Sheikah, a clan of ninja like people that vanished a long time ago. Or at least that’s what she claimed. She is princess Zelda in disguise, an alter ego made to hide from Ganon, as well as guide link through his adventure. Sheik is fast and has good combo game, though she lacks in kill options. Her speed is good against Zoners and can easily close in on opponents.
The Ice Climbers are an interesting character. Their first and only appearance is the ice climbers game on the NES. In that game you and a friend control Popo and Nana in an attempt to get to the top of a mountain. The ice climbers have a good grab game, as well as some good aerials and combo potential.
Bowser, the Koopa King, is the big bad of the Mario franchise. He’s always trying to gain power or marry Peach, when he’s not kart racing, or playing tennis with his arch rival. Bowser is not only the heaviest character in the game, he also has passive armor that makes him resistant to knockbacks. His powerful attacks can be used to put pressure on your opponent.
Daisy is the spunky princess of sarasaland. A bus more sporty and outgoing than Peach, Daisy will not hesitate to get into a fist fight. Moveset wise, there is little difference between peach and daisy so the same strategies apply. Use float to start combos and use turnips to zone opponents.
Peach is the regal ruler of the mushroom kingdom, when she’s not busy getting kidnapped that is. Peach has been dubbed by pro smash players as one of the most technical characters in the game. Peach can use her turnips to zone opponents, and her Float ability makes for good combo setups.
Jigglypuff was an odd addition to smash back on the N64, but several years later it’s hard to picture smash without her! Jigglypuff is known as the balloon Pokémon. Jigglypuff can inflate herself to attack enemies, as well as sing a song that can put them to sleep. Jigglypuff’s is light and floaty, which gives her an excellent air game. Her strongest move is rest which has massive knockback and damage.
Ness is the main protagonist of the game earthbound (mother 2 in Japan). Ness and his friends can control a special physic energy known as PSI. Nesses moveset allows for plenty of variety and mix-up options. Projectiles for zoning, good and reliable grabs, and several good attack options and a reflector.
Captain Falcon is one of those characters that is more know for his smash appearances than his home game. It doesn’t help that most of his past is shrouded in mystery. A high-speed racer and galaxy renowned bounty hunter, Captain Falcon is no stranger to high-speed action. Although technically a heavyweight, Captain Falcon is the second-fastest in the game. Captain Falcon uses his speed and good a combo game to outlast his opponent.
Luigi, Mario’s brother and his player 2. Luigi is mostly overshadowed by his brother’s success and is often timid and cowardly. Despite this when Mario was kidnapped by King Boo, Luigi strapped on the Poltergust and went to save his brother. Though similar, Luigi is played a bit differently from Mario. Luigi is quick in the air, so he shines with off-stage combat. Luigi’s aerials will be your best tools if you play this character.
Pikachu is the electric mouse Pokémon. The mascot of the Pokémon franchise, this little mouse is not to be underestimated. Pikachu is fast and has some good approach options. Pikachu has a good neutral game allowing him to deal damage and avoid getting hit himself.
Fox McCloud is the leader of the legendary mercenary adventurers, Team Star Fox. An ace pilot, Fox uses his wits to get out on any situation. Fox’s speed can be used to land strikes on the opponent, and his blaster can be used to quickly rack up damage.
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby, now that’s a name you should know! The pink ball with a major apatite, Kirby is the hero of dreamland. Small he may be, you don’t want to mess with this round boy. Just like his very simple games, Kirby is the best for beginner players getting the hang on the game mechanics. Kirby also shines when close to the opponent utilizing many brawler-type moves. Kirby also has the ability to copy and utilize the opponents neutral special.
Yoshi is Mario’s trusted steed and friend. Mario and Luigi were both rescued by Yoshis when they were babies, and have been good friends since. Yoshi’s moveset allows for good mixup options that keep your opponent on their toes.
When Samus defeated the creature known as metroid prime, reborn as the Samus’s doppelganger known as Dark Samus. Merged with one of Samus’s power suits and a dark substance known as phazon. Dark Samus is a powerful adversary for the bounty hunter. Dark Samus is more floaty compared to Samus. Her attacks hit lower allowing her to better hit smaller enemies.
Samus is the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. Samus’s power suit gives her enhanced strength, and a plethora of weapons and projectiles to get the job done. Samus has some of the best mobility in the game. She is also a zoner, able to use her projectiles to maintain distance between her and the opponent.
Asleep for 100 years, Link, the Champion of Hyrule, awakens with no memory of who or what he is. Link welds the master sword, as well as a plethora of tools, like bombs, a shield, and a boomerang. Link is a good range character with some good projectile options
He’s the leader of the bunch, you know him well. Donkey Kong is the big bad ape from the Donkey Kong Country franchise. Donkey Kong is the first heavy weight of the roster, that means he hits hard and is hard to launch. DK’s unique move is the Kong Karry. Kong Karry allows DK to pick up opponents and carry them around, as well as accessing a new set of throws.
